Primary physical education

Every pupil in the primary school will receive two 80 minute PE lessons per week. All pupils in grade 1-3 will swim during one of those lessons throughout the entire academic year. Pupils in grade 4-6 will be timetabled onto swimming at certain points during the year. All physical abilities are developed during our lessons with a focus on participation and individual development from all pupils. We use a rigorous assessment structure to ensure all pupils know and understand what it is they have to do to improve and move up to the next level. All pupils will compete in our sports day in November and all pupils will have the opportunity to compete in our Hhouse swimming competition in April if they choose to do so.

 Primary sport

Our core sports in primary are football, basketball, swimming, sychronised swimming and badminton. We have teams in all those sports that train on a weekly basis throughout the school year. We also have teams in rugby and dancing that are growing in popularity. We enter tournaments in Hangzhou and other cities within China. Our main training session take place during School Activity time in which we offer both elite sessions for our most able pupils but also development sessions for those pupils working towards our top teams. We competed in 38 fixtures in our first academic year in Hangzhou and we hope to build on this during our third year.
