AI in education: Insights from Edtech specialist Mark Anderson

At Wellington College Hangzhou, we are at the forefront of shaping the future of education by harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI). Recently, we had the privilege of hosting Mark Anderson, a distinguished expert, consultant, and influencer in educational technology. His visit was a significant event that opened new horizons for our school, and we are excited to share the learning from his recent livestream session with us. 

Mark's visit to the school provided valuable insights into the practical application of AI in education. As AI technology continues to advance at a rapid pace, educational institutions worldwide must adapt to ensure their pupils not only understand how to integrate AI into their learning but also possess the critical thinking skills to discern when its use is appropriate. The livestream with Mark and members of WCCH senior leadership team shed light on the pivotal role of AI in education, stressing the importance of AI tools like ChatGPT in diverse subject areas. For instance, in English, AI breathes life into character analysis within books, while in mathematics, it aids in predictive analytics and problem-solving. This engagement with AI also emphasised the significance of teaching fundamental coding skills to pupils, ensuring they grasp the understanding and ability to develop AI models. Integrating AI into our curriculum is essential to prepare our pupils for the changing landscape of the future job market.
