Sports Week at WCCH: FUNtastic!

For most pupils at Wellington College Hangzhou, the 30-minute lunchtime break, when they play on the field as the sun shines brightly is undoubtedly their most anticipated time on campus.  

Well, here's a surprise! That enthusiasm was ramped up a notch as the school celebrated sports week this week, which multiplied the fun from 30 minutes into a whole ‘FUNtastic’ week. The field has been transformed into a joyous amusement park accompanied by dynamic music. Pupils participated in a dozen different sports, including sprints, relays, tug-of-war, javelin throws, and shot puts and thoroughly enjoyed the fun. They represented their classes and houses, taking turns and sharing the joy of sports. 

During this sports week at Wellington College Hangzhou, not only the teachers but also the parents participated enthusiastically. They played various roles such as cheering for their children, enjoying the sunshine leisurely on the grass, and even going to the field to participate in sports with their children. 

During the entire week, the pupils at Wellington College Hangzhou indulged in the fun of sports, basking in the warmth of spring sunshine, and enjoyed quality time with their classmates, teachers and parents. Everyone had such a great time. The regret, if any, is that sports week lasted only a short five days. At Wellington College Hangzhou, we believe in the mantra ‘work hard, play hard’. While learning is essential, sports and fun are also crucial at WCCH. 

The field was alive with not only the presence of our athletic pupils, but also the Friends of Wellington. They set up stalls and offered a diverse range of products, allowing us to experience the care and thoughtfulness of the parent community.

It is worth noting that all of the proceeds from the sale of Friends of Wellington merchandise will be used to support the activities of the parent community. These include regular community activities and charity events carried out under the name of Friends of Wellington. This not only ensures the appropriate use of funds but also exemplifies the social responsibility and kindness of the parents. 

In the future, we look forward to seeing a greater collaboration between parents and school, helping creat a better environment for our pupils. We are confident that Friends of Wellington will become an even stronger and steadfast pillar of support for our children's growth.
