Lisa is an Australian teacher who has 17 years experience writing and delivering a Japanese and dance curriculum in the Elementary, Middle and High school sectors. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Arts (Dance) and a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) with a minor in Japanese Language Studies. She takes great pride and joy in nurturing children on their journey to personal success and whilst acting in various administrative roles, discovered her ‘niche’ working in the Middle Years (13-15 years). As a result, Lisa has been a Middle Years Year Level Coordinator for 10 years, managing staff and students in pastoral care. Lisa’s philosophy of education is to build a lasting rapport with her students teamed with an expectation of them striving to be the best of themselves. She also strongly believes in enabling her students to have the necessary skills to engage with and contribute to a global, multi-cultural society. In role-modeling this philosophy, Lisa and her husband love to immerse themselves in different cultures and they have travelled extensively around the world. She has also lead numerous international school tour groups and studied twice in Japan. In addition to Japanese, Lisa can speak conversational Spanish and she is looking forward to learning Chinese throughout her time at Wellington and living in Hangzhou. Along with her skill of teaching Dance as a subject, Lisa has a strong personal background in Performing Arts. Beginning dance at five years of age, she has experience singing, acting and dancing in Musical Theatre Performances, competing in Eisteddfod’s, completing board examinations and performing as a Tapper and Jazz Singer. Lisa has also choreographed a number of dances for a variety of events to differing levels of ability. She loves to regularly participate in yoga classes and has a passion for health, lifestyle and being outdoors. Lisa and her husband Nick are very excited to be part of the Wellington family and are looking forward to having the opportunity to share their knowledge, skill, passion and experience with the staff and students at Huilli School Hangzhou and Wellington College International Hangzhou.
