With 4 years of teaching experience and 6 years of music leadership, Craig is very much looking forward to joining the teaching team at Wellington College International Hangzhou. During his time in York, he directed several choirs ranging in age from 6 – 60! He also performed regularly as a singer (ensemble and solo), as a pianist and an organist, as well as working as a composer. Once he gained his PGCE, he transferred his passion for music into the classroom, providing his children with a full cross-curricular environment. With experience in both the UK state sector and in the international sector, Craig finds providing musical provision the most rewarding aspect of being a teacher. Craig performed from an early age, starting in church choirs when he was 4 and taking up piano at the same age, which led him to orchestral performances by the age of 16. He has gained ABRSM & RSCM awards in his instruments.
Although music is his life long passion, Craig also enjoys other subjects including Maths, Science and Philosophy. He believes that a cross-curricular approach to music education will benefit his students and drive their own passion for learning. Providing Wellington College with a thriving musical culture with opportunities for all students is an exciting prospect. Craig believes that the performing arts are not only a unique and enjoyable experience but can also help pupils foster confidence in themselves which they can take forward into their own avenues of life. Being able to do this in an international setting provides many wonderful opportunities for cross-culture collaborations including links with his musical life back in UK.
