本周日，我们将迎来五一劳动节。“劳动是世界上一切欢乐和一切美好事情的源泉。” “人生在勤，不索何获。”惠立学校秉持德智体美劳五育并举的教育理念，引导学生尊重劳动、崇尚劳动。在五一劳动节假期，我们也鼓励家长在生活中给予孩子更多劳动的机会，掌握基本生活技能，懂得感恩家人付出，增强家庭责任感和社会责任的担当意识，从而拥有获得幸福生活的能力。

This Sunday, we will celebrate May Day. "Labour is the source of all joy and all good things in the world." "Life is hard work. What can you get without asking for it." Huili School upholds the educational philosophy of educating pupils in all five aspects of moral, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic education, guiding them to respect and admire labour. During the May Day holiday, we also encourage parents to give their children more opportunities to work in their lives, master basic life skills, be grateful to their families for their contributions, and enhance their sense of family and social responsibility so that they can have the ability to lead a happy life.

初中部假期后将正式开始IGCSE的考试，并一直持续至六月下旬。惠灵顿杭州校区首届高一的同学们此时正在努力备考中，祝愿他们都能取得佳绩。

Junior High will start to take IGCSE examinations after the holidays until late June. So Wellington College Hangzhou's first Grade 10/Pre A students are now preparing for their exams, and we wish them all the best!

目前，根据疫情防控要求，居住地为封控区、管控区或防范区的学生需要居家进行线上学习。我们理解这样的要求给学生和家长带来诸多不便，感谢相关学生与家长们对学校工作以及对政府防疫工作的配合与支持。五一劳动节小长假即将来临，请允许我建议惠立社群成员尽量在杭州市内踏青休闲，非必要不离杭。杭州地区从本周五开始将实施提供48小时内核酸检测乘坐公共交通及出入公共场所的政策。假期回来后，我们也将开始进行常态化的每周开展三次校园全员核酸检测，这无疑将是一个充满挑战的任务，但经过前几周的落实，学校已经积累诸多经验，非常有信心能够高效完成这项工作。

According to the epidemic prevention and control requirements, pupils living in lockdown areas, control areas, or prevention areas need to conduct E-learning at home. We understand that such conditions have brought much inconvenience to pupils and parents. We thank relevant pupils and parents for their cooperation and support to the school work and the government's epidemic prevention work. May Day holiday is coming. Please allow me to suggest that members of the Huili community try their best to go for a leisure outing within Hangzhou, and please do not leave Hangzhou unless necessary. Hangzhou will implement the policy of providing NAT results within 48 hours for public transportation and access to public places from this Thursday. After the holiday, we will also begin to take the NAT of all staff on campus three times a week, which will undoubtedly be a challenging task for us. However, after the implementation in the previous weeks, the school has accumulated a lot of experience and is very confident in completing this work efficiently.

在此，我想与大家分享一个令人振奋的喜讯——就在本周，我们惠立初中部有六名学生成功晋级国际学术竞赛亚洲锦标赛决赛。这六名学生一路过关斩将，已经顺利通过了三轮比赛，锁定了决赛的席位。国际学术竞赛比赛形式灵活有趣，强调跨学科的综合教育理念，涵盖地理、科学和其他学科的知识。八年级的Jerry同学在所有科目上都成功晋级到最后一轮，我们由衷地为他取得的成绩感到骄傲。

We are incredibly pleased to share with you that we have been informed this week that six Junior High pupils have successfully gained places in the final of the Asian Championships for the International Academic Competition. These six pupils have already successfully passed through three rounds to secure their place in the final, which is a considerable achievement. This competition covers geography, science and academic questions. Jerry, Grade 8, has successfully passed onto the final round in every area, a phenomenal achievement. Well done, Jerry. 

在全国范围内，每个地区只有12位孩子成功晋级到比赛的最后一轮，惠立初中部的学生在各个学科都有二到三名孩子成功晋级，实属不易，让我们再次恭喜这六位同学！

Nationally, only twelve pupils in each area will go through to the final Asian Championships, so having two or three Junior High pupils through in each area is incredible. Congratulations to all six pupils.

一些人天生就具备成功企业家的素质，而一些人则必须经过后天努力培养而成。多年来，许多成功的企业家改变了我们的日常生活，如比尔·盖茨(Bill Gates）、史蒂夫·乔布斯（Steve Jobs）和马云等。在上周的环保慈善跳蚤市场活动中，我们也看到了很多非常有潜力、有抱负的未来企业家们。

Some people have the inborn qualities of a successful entrepreneur, while others must work hard to develop them. Over the years, we have seen many successful entrepreneurs make a difference in our everyday life, from Bill Gates and Steve Jobs to Jack Ma. I am pleased to say that we are beginning to see glimmers of aspirational entrepreneurs here at Huili School. 

在过去的几周，我有幸看到很多“小企业家们”在企业目标和环境保护之间努力寻求平衡。初中部学生团体环保慈善委员会开始推广环保慈善跳蚤市场活动后，二至六年级的学生争相承租摊位，售卖自己的二手物品。活动过程中，我看到学生们团结协作开发多样商业模式，利用自己的摊位售卖各种主题商品，如帽子、冰淇淋和游戏门票等。

Over the past few weeks, I have had the privilege to watch some of our budding business pupils develop a sense of purpose while trying to save the planet. Once our innovative secondary students started their eco-committee and advertised the flea market, children from Grade 2 to Grade 6 became eager to rent a stall and sell their secondhand goods. As time progressed, I saw pupils collaborate to develop a business model and use their stalls to sell themed goods, from hats and jewellery to ice cream and games tickets.

小摊主们完美展示了惠立价值观和惠立特质，如善良、独立等等；同时，我们也看到了他们身上呈现的热忱、内驱力和激情等这些成功企业家们该具备的品质。

While all the pupils who rented stalls were exhibiting Huili values and identities such as kindness and independence, I noted that some modelled their qualities, including passion, motivation, drive and enthusiasm: qualities of successful entrepreneurs. 

我们的学生用行动证明了自己一旦下定决心，就能完成任务。他们精诚协作，紧密沟通，高效完成任务，成功克服了活动过程中遇到的各种困难。

Our pupils demonstrated that they could achieve anything they put their minds to. They worked collaboratively and communicated well; became time-effective, completed mathematical tasks, and problem solved issues that arose. 

学生们在锻炼自己能力的同时，还通过慈善事业活动减少地球碳排放。他们让自己不再需要的物品重新发挥了价值，筹集资金捐种了惠立森林。本周，我们五年级的学生演示了通过一些小改变来进一步关爱和保护地球家园的方法，如随手关灯等。

While our pupils worked hard on developing their skills, they also worked philanthropically to help to combat their carbon footprint in our planet's hour of need. They recycled their unwanted goods and raised money to plant their own Huili forest. This week, our Grade 5 pupils developed this idea by illustrating how pupils can respect and repair our planet with small everyday actions such as turning off the lights when not in a room. 

周一的集会活动也阐释了爱护环境的重要性。一个小小的举动都会对环境产生巨大的正面或负面的影响。希望惠立学子们继续弘扬善良的惠立价值观，并为当前的生态问题提出自己的创新解决方案。

Monday's assembly illustrated how important it is to care for our environment. It raised awareness of the small things that we do that impact the environment: both negatively and positively. I want Huili pupils to build on these ideas in the spirit of kindness and innovate their solutions to current ecological issues. 

劳动节即将来临，希望家长们可以与孩子们分享节日的含义，并探讨百年来工人阶级经历劳动给社会带来的各种积极变化。我们未来的企业家和慈善家们可以从这些历史中去思考努力的方向，为创造更美好的世界贡献力量。

As the labour day holidays approach, I hope that parents can share with their children the significance of these days and discuss how changes and improvements have benefitted workers over the past 100 years. Likewise, our young entrepreneurs and philanthropists can take from these ideas to consider how they can make their impact on the world and try to make it a better place for everyone.

初中部学生的课程拓展日活动大获成功。

The Curriculum Enrichment Day was a great success with our pupils in Junior High. 

活动内容包括选择一位有名的艺术偶像。有的同学扮成名人，谈论他们的生活和贡献。同学们担任起导演、编辑、艺术家和音响设计师的角色，以传记电影的形式录制对所选的偶像的采访。

The project consisted in choosing a famous icon of the arts. Some pupils act like famous people and talk about their lives and contributions. Our pupils were directors, editors, artists, and sound designers who recorded an interview with their chosen famous icon in a biography film format. 

在艺术、戏剧、音乐和信息通讯技术组的老师们的带领下，同学们迫不及待地投入到这场活动中， 使得此次活动大获成功。感谢所有初中部教职员工的贡献与支持。

The day was a fantastic success thanks to our pupils' determination and eagerness to participate in this project and the leadership of our heads of Art, Drama, Music, and ICT. We want to thank all the staff members in Junior High for their contribution and support throughout this meaningful experience.

上周，为庆祝第52个地球日，倡导绿色生活，惠立学校的同学们开展了一个意义非凡且收获颇丰的大型校内活动-——惠立环保慈善跳蚤市场。此次活动是由惠立初中部学生团体环保慈善委员会发起的，受到了全校同学和老师们的积极响应和热忱参与。我们希望通过本次活动在杭州的惠立社群中积极鼓励和大力推动绿色生活方式，为保护我们赖以生存的地球，减少资源使用、做到现有物品再利用和各类资源的回收利用。本次活动四十五个摊位的摊主们有来自小学部和初中部的同学们，还有来自校区不同学部的老师们。在一周的活动过程中，惠立学子们不仅展现热忱和善良，也展现了责任和勇气。

Last week, to celebrate the 52nd earth day and advocate a green lifestyle, the students of Huili school carried out a significant and fruitful large-scale school activity - Huili Green Flea Market. The event was initiated by the Environmental Charity Committee, a student-led organisation of Huili Junior High school, and received a positive response and enthusiastic participation from all students and teachers across campus. Through this event, we hope to actively encourage and vigorously promote the green lifestyle in the Huili community in Hangzhou - reduce, reuse and recycle. The forty-five stalls of this event were held by students from primary school and junior high school and teachers from different departments of the Wellington campus. In the process, Huili students not only showed their enthusiasm and kindness but also showed their responsibility and courage.

本次活动的成功举办，离不开在幕后默默支持孩子们的家长朋友们。家长的支持和鼓励是孩子成长旅程中至关重要的部分。在此，我谨代表环保慈善委员会的全体成员向各位家长表达最衷心的感谢。此次活动筹集的所有善款（预计总额将超过一万元人民币）将用于内蒙古的植树造林项目。今年的地球日的主题是“投资我们的星球”，旨在加速实施各项应对气候变化的解决方案。年少的惠立学子们通过身体力行的努力，为实现这样一个宏大的目标贡献了自己的一份力量。值得骄傲，未来可期。

The success of this event is also inseparable from the parents who greatly support the children behind the scenes. The support and encouragement of parents are undoubtedly a vital part of the journey of children's growth. Here, on behalf of all members of the Environmental Charity Committee, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to you. All the donations raised in this event (the total amount is expected to exceed 10,000 yuan) will be used for afforestation projects in Inner Mongolia. This year's Earth Day theme is "Invest in Our Planet", focusing on accelerating the implementation of solutions to combat climate change. Young Huili students have contributed to the realisation of such a grand goal through practical efforts. Excellent work!
