每周快讯 | The Week Ahead

新学年，新征程，本周我们非常高兴惠立学子们返回校园，正式开启新的学年。
It's a new school year and the start of a new journey. This week we are delighted to have Hiba pupils back on campus for the official opening of the new academic year. 

本周各学部的工作重点是让学生们尽快适应新学年的常规日程与节奏。我期望无论是新同学还是返校生，都能锐意进取，不断发展独立自主能力，准备好并充满热情地迎接新学年的学习与生活。 
This week's focus for all schools is to help pupils settle in and get used to the daily routines of school life. My expectation for both our new and returning pupils is that they can stay motivated, continue to develop their independence and stand ready and enthusiastic for the new academic year. 

不忘初心，方得始终。新的学年，学校将秉持“惠贤育能，立德树人”的教育理念，重视五育并举，促进学生核心素养能力发展，致力于培养拥有家国情怀、国际视野、多元文化理解力以及批判思维能力的双语人才，为惠立学子提供优质的双语教育。 
Never forget why you started, and your mission will be accomplished. In the new academic year, we will continue cultivating talent through virtue, kindness and integrity, value the five sides of education and enhance the core literacy of our pupils. Furthermore, we aim to offer quality bilingual education for our pupils, allowing them to become bilingual talents with a love for their families and countries, a global perspective, multicultural awareness and critical thinking. 

笃志力行，履践致远。期待与惠立社群一起度过一个更加精彩的新学年！ 
With dedicated efforts comes a bright future. We are committed to doing what we can to achieve our goals. We look forward to an even more exciting school year with Hiba Community. 

新学年的开始，我想向在刚刚过去的国际中学教育普通证书（IGCSE）考试中获得优异成绩的2024届的同学表示热烈的祝贺！同学们的考试成绩中，59%是A*，73%是A*-A，这表明我们高二的学生潜力无穷，有足够的能力迎接下一阶段的学业挑战。 
First and foremost, congratulations to every member of the Class of 2024 who recently achieved outstanding IGCSE results. With 59% A* grades and 73% A*-A grades, it is clear that our new Lower Sixth pupils are bursting with talent and capable of their next academic challenge. 

今年，我们还迎来了第二届A Level预备课程班的学生。欢迎大家的加入！ 期待着与您增进了解，携手共助孩子成长。 
This year also brings the second-ever cohort of Pre A Level pupils. Welcome to our new families. I look forward to getting to know you more throughout the year. 

新学年的开端让我感到格外欣喜。返校后，学生们再次相聚校园，他们与伙伴们叙旧的兴奋劲儿让空荡荡的教室充满了活力，让原本心有忐忑的新生都露出了灿烂的笑容。偌大的校园又一次焕发出勃勃生机。过去的几周里，教职员工都在为迎接学生返校做准备，期待与同学们见面。我们正在创造惠灵顿杭州校区的历史，校区最高年级的学生即将开启高中阶段最后两年的学习：A Level课程学习。我的内心充满了期待。让学生们全力以赴地开始学习吧！
I love the start of a new academic year. The excitement of returning pupils catching up with their friends fills the empty classrooms with an energy that makes even the most nervous of new starters smile. The school is brought back to life. Our new and returning staff have been preparing these past weeks and are keen to meet and inspire their pupils. We now make Wellington College Hangzhou history as our eldest cohort embarks on the final stage of their high school journey: their A Levels. I am extraordinarily excited. Let the learning commence.

新学年伊始，我们回顾过去，展望未来，期待引导惠立学子更上一层楼。同学们在2022年的IGCSE考试中取得的优异成绩，这无疑是初中部今年暑期的一大亮点。在同学们取得的成绩中，59%是A*，73%是A*或A。我们为惠立学子和促成这一成果的教职工团队感到无比自豪。我们是如何取得这些成绩的呢？答案是勤奋和奉献。要想取得出色的成绩，这二者必不可少。我们对每个加入惠立社群的学生都抱有很高的期望，也相信我们一定会携手走向成功。 
As we start another academic year, we reflect on the previous year's successes and look forward to making changes to ensure further successes are made for our pupils. Undoubtedly, our IGCSE results of 2022 have been the highlight of our summer here in Junior High. With 59% of our grades achieved being A*s and 73% A* or A, we are immensely proud of our pupils and the staff team enabling these successes. How did we achieve these results? Hard work and dedication. There are no other means to achieve successes such as these. We have high expectations of everyone who enters the Hiba Hangzhou community, and we always knew that success would come.   

暑假期间，我们仍然保持着勤奋的状态和奉献的精神。非教学团队孜孜不倦地工作，完成了学校设施的维护和提升工作，让新老师能顺利开启新学年，迎接学生的到来。一些初二的学生还与英国惠灵顿公学合作开启了暑期英语项目。 
Hard work and dedication have not stopped over the summer months either. Our non-academic team have worked tirelessly to ensure that our new staff are onboard and ready to meet our pupils, building work has been completed to enhance our environment, and some of our Grade 8 pupils have been involved with our Summer Holiday English programme in collaboration with The Wellington College UK.   

告别八月的炎热，清凉的九月如约而至。同时，我们非常高兴地迎来了2022-2023学年。
Bidding farewell to the scorching Autumn, we are now enjoying the cool autumn breeze of September. How exciting it is to start the 2022-2023 academic year. 

在这里，我谨代表杭州惠立学校小学高年级部全体教师向各位表达我们最真诚的问候和最美好的祝福：衷心祝愿我们的孩子在新的学期里不断发展“积极、慎思、独立、个性、包容”的惠立特质。
I want to express our sincerest greetings and best wishes to our parents on behalf of all upper primary teachers at Hiba Academy Hangzhou. We hope our pupils will continuously develop the Hiba identity of "Inspired, Intellectual, Independent, Individual and Inclusive". 

在全球化的社会中，我们深刻地认识到：孩子的成长需求也在时刻发生着转变。对此，我们深感使命崇高，责任重大。即使处于假期，我们追求变革的脚步也始终未曾停歇，依然不断耕耘。
In a globalised society, we are deeply aware that the learning needs of our children are also changing. As educators, we understand the great responsibility of educating the next generation. Therefore, our pursuit of improvement never stopped, even during the holiday, as we worked diligently for a better future. 

新学期，小学高年级部每个班级将配备两位主班老师，一位是外方教师，一位是中方教师。他们将组成“中西合璧”的教师团队，将双语教育的优势最大限度地得以发挥，最终带给孩子最好的校园生活。
Every upper primary class in the new academic year will have two homeroom teachers, one expat and one Chinese teacher. They will work together to maximise the advantages of bilingual education, providing the best school experience for our pupils. 

另外，多名经验丰富的中外员工将加入高年级部，为我们的教育社群注入新的活力。
We have experienced local and expat staff joining the upper primary this year, and we are confident that they will bring great energy and vitality to our community. 

为确保新学年平稳开学，在此，也请您能够协助我们密切关注孩子的健康状况，为开学返校提供必要的身心条件。
We kindly remind you to pay close attention to your children's daily health status to ensure a smooth school opening with us. 

欢迎全体小学部低年级段的学子们重返校园！周二迎新日当天，我看到朝气蓬勃的孩子们满怀兴奋地踏上了寻找新班级、新老师的旅程——走廊和公共空间里都萦绕着他们的欢声笑语。
It has been wonderful to welcome the pupils back this week. I enjoyed meeting so many excited young people finding out about their new classes and teachers on Tuesday – there was a real buzz in the corridors and the shared spaces.  

在过去的几周里，我已尽可能多地了解我们学校，熟悉新的团队，也探索了校园的方方面面。惠立学校里发生着许许多多振奋人心的事情，这也使得我的探索之旅更加地有趣和充实。
I have spent the last few weeks discovering as much as possible about the school, meeting new people and discovering all the different facets of the campus. It has been an exciting and informative journey, and so many exciting things are going on at Hiba. 

小学部低年级的老师们也已精心布置教室，为即将到来的学生们准备教材，以帮助他们在新学年收获一个积极而愉快的开端。项目式学习对于小学一二年级的孩子来说，是非常有价值和意义的，因为这有助于让孩子们深入挖掘学习内容，置身情景之中，是孩子们容易掌握的，不仅能激发学习的动力，还能符合其个性化的需求。我非常期待能够看到各班的项目在未来几周里有序发展，届时能亲眼看见孩子们展示自己的学习成果。
The teams in Lower Primary have spent a great deal of time setting up their classrooms and preparing the learning opportunities for the pupils to ensure they have a positive, happy and engaging start to the new school year. Project Based Learning is a valuable and appropriate approach for the Lower Primary age group. It allows them to dig deeper into learning and contextualises it in a way that makes it both accessible, motivating and individualised. I look forward to seeing the projects develop in the classes over the next few weeks and seeing how the children demonstrate what they have learned. 

在不久的将来，我希望能和所有家长见面并做进一步沟通，我也相信大家都对未来的无限可能充满期待。
I am, of course, looking forward to meeting all the parents and family members and getting to know you over the coming term, and I hope you are all as excited as I am for all the possibilities to come.
