本周校园活动精彩纷呈，各学部都在开展学年末集会、学院庆典等活动。惠灵顿杭州校区年度音乐剧《苏斯狂想曲》于本周三、周四、周六上演，所有参演学生们都热情洋溢、自信专业，为观众们献上了一场场震撼人心的“狂想曲”。为了使这部戏剧以最出色的方式呈现出来，无论台前、幕后、主角、配角，还是服装、道具、化妆、舞台灯光、音效等等，所有参演的学生们、从事幕后工作的学生们，以及表演艺术组的老师们都付出了不懈的努力。我想为舞台上熠熠生辉的参演学生们喝彩，同时也为从事幕后工作的学生和老师们点赞。
This week was full of exciting campus events, with end-of-year assembly and college celebrations in all academic departments. Wellington Hangzhou's Annual Musical "Seussical Jr." will be staged for the final time this Saturday. All the pupils in the show were enthusiastic, confident and professional, presenting a stunning "Rhapsody" to the audience. To deliver the production in the best way possible, all the pupils in the show, working behind the scenes and the teachers in the performing arts team worked tirelessly to make the play the best it could be, whether it was in front of the stage, behind the scenes, in the lead roles, in the supporting roles, in costumes, props, makeup, stage lighting or sound effects. I want to applaud the pupils who shone on stage, and I would also like to praise the pupils and teachers who worked behind the scenes.
在惠立学校，戏剧表演是学生双语能力、多元文化理解的表达与展示。希望每位参演的学生都在此次参演经历中收获了成长与快乐，并获得了全新的体验和感悟。
In Huili School, drama performances allow the expression and display of pupils' bilingual ability and multicultural understanding. It is hoped that every pupil participating in the production will gain growth and happiness in their performance and gain a new experience and knowledge.
本周，高一和 A level预备课程班的学生参加的IGCSE考试圆满结束。相信八月学生们都能收获满意的成绩。
This week, the IGCSE exam for Grade 10 /Pre A Level pupils completed their exams successfully. We look forward to seeing all the pupils' results in August.
下周五，小学部将举行高年级授奖演讲典礼，以庆祝学生们的成就和进步。下周三，寄宿部明院将举办明院的年度集会，庆祝学生在明院一年的成长与收获。当天，惠立之友和各班级家长代表们也将组织致谢早餐会，感谢学校教职员工们在这一学年为学生的成长付出的努力。
Next Friday, Huili Primary will hold a Speech Day Award Ceremony to celebrate the achievements and progress of the pupils. Next Wednesday, Ming House, the boarding department, will have an annual assembly to celebrate the growth and harvest of pupils. On the same day, FOH and the parents' representatives of each class will also organise a Thank You breakfast pack event to thank the school staff for their efforts this academic year.

Sixth Form Matters

The end of the academic year has almost arrived, and alongside tying up loose ends, we are also preparing for our first A Level cohort. We will be hosting our A Level Induction for pupils and parents next week and introducing them to the Wellington College Hangzhou Sixth Form life. To reflect the pupils' growing maturity and recognise their different needs, they will be granted privileges. One of which is the Sixth Form Centre. Last week, I wrote about building a 'home' for the pupils, and this is certainly beginning to take shape.

Junior High Matters
登台表演的体验积极而深远地影响着孩子的身心健康、社交与情感发展。今年，惠立学子积极参加学校的舞台剧演出和初中部集会等活动，上台发表演讲，在老师、同学和家长面前展示自己。数月以来，表演艺术组与同学们为音乐剧演出辛勤排练，同学们更是从这一无与伦比的体验中受益匪浅。
The opportunity to perform on stage brings many powerful, lifetime benefits for pupils.
The effect on a child's mental, physical, social and emotional development will stay with them for many years after their performance. This year pupils have had the opportunity to participate in our school musical, participate in assemblies, give speeches on stage and present in front of their class or a camera. As we celebrate the amalgamation of many months of hard work by our performing arts team and pupils to produce our school musical, it is important to recognise the benefits our pupils gain from participating in such a superb event.
通过参加表演艺术活动，学生可以通过叙事、音乐、舞台动作等探索、抒发自己的情绪，在健康可控的环境中表达不同的情感。同学们能应用这种表达自我的创意方法迎接未来的大学面试和工作面试。表演艺术激发着学生的想象力，引导学生自信地展现个性。表演艺术在初中部课程设置中的重要性不容忽视。多项研究表明，表演艺术课程对学生的学术表现有着显著的积极影响。2019年《神经科学与教育趋势》学术期刊的一篇文章指出，艺术教育能提升学生的记忆力和对各学科的整体理解。希望今年的音乐剧活动能启发孩子们积极参与新学年的活动。
Through the performing arts, pupils can explore and channel their emotions through narrative, music and movement, allowing pupils to express a range of emotions in a healthy, controlled environment. Learning how to express themselves through art makes it easier for them to creatively express themselves in other situations such as job interviews and starting university. Performing arts engage pupils' imaginations and lead them to develop their distinct voices with confidence. The importance of our performing arts curriculum in Junior High can not be overlooked. Various studies have shown that a performing arts curriculum significantly positively affects a pupil's academic performance. A 2019 article in the academic journal Trends in Neuroscience and Education states that arts-integrated education increases the retention of information and the overall subject comprehension of pupils. We hope the musical this year has inspired many of our pupils to be involved in the next academic year.

Upper Primary Matters
本周，惠立小学部高年级发生了许多振奋人心的事情。
Huili upper primary has many exciting news to celebrate this week.
感恩父亲 Show thanks to our father
恰逢父亲节，四年级的学生代表在国旗下庄严演讲，表达了同学们对父亲的感激与敬意。许多班级更是通过多种多样的活动让同学们为父亲送上祝福。惠立的“立”包含着立德之意。庄子所谓 “德是指得于道，体现大道精神之谓”。我们一直通过品德教育，培养时刻保持着拥有“勇气、尊重、正直、善良和责任”价值观的学生。
The Grade 4 pupil representatives gave an excellent flag-raising speech on Monday to show their gratitude and respect to their father. Many classes had various activities to express their best wishes to their father. Huili's "li" contains the meaning of virtue. Zhuangzi, the leading representative of Taoism, said, "virtue refers to obtaining from Dao and demonstrating the spirit of Dao". We have always focused on developing pupils who demonstrate the values of "Courage, Respect, Integrity, Kindness and Responsibility" through moral education.
领跑数学 Great achievement in Math Competition
四月底，惠立小学部三至六年级共有77人参与了由英国数学基金会组织（UKMT）组织的JMC数学竞赛。在本次参赛的77人中，有46名惠立学子获得奖项，其中获得金奖的同学占34.78%。
At the end of April, 77 upper primary pupils participated in the JMC maths competition hosted by The UK Mathematics Trust(UKMT). Of the 77 pupils, 46 received awards, of which 34.87% got gold medals.
这项比赛每年吸引来自全英国超过六千多所学校的七十万学生的参与，是英国规模最大和最具影响力的全国性数学思维挑战。全球排名前50%的选手将会按照1：2：3的比例分别获得金奖、银奖和铜奖。
The competition attracts over 700,000 students from more than 6,000 schools across the UK each year. It is the UK's largest and most influential national mathematical thinking competition. The top 50% of the competitors in the world will win gold, silver and bronze medals in a ratio of 1:2:3.
硕果累累 Abundant accomplishment
除了数学竞赛，小学部还收到了同学们伦敦音乐戏剧学院（ LAMDA） 戏剧与演讲的证书，萧山区美丽学生评比的好消息，以及同学们参与100公里慈善马拉松的记录册。
In addition to the excellent news of the maths competition, upper primary pupils received the drama and speech certificates from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). We also got good results in selecting the "Outstanding Pupils in Xiaoshan District". The record book of the pupil's participation in the 100-kilometre charity marathon also arrived.
精彩音乐剧 Wonderful Musical performance
在学校表演艺术部老师的带领下，许多小学部的同学们经过紧锣密鼓的准备和日复一日的排练，呈现出了一出精彩纷呈的《苏斯狂想曲》音乐剧演出。许多同学虽然刚刚接触戏剧表演，却展示出了极高的兴趣，付出了辛勤的汗水。祝愿你们在未来的日子里继续与艺术相伴，为自己的人生增添更多光彩！
Under the guidance of the Performing Arts teachers, our pupils have presented a splendidly musical performance of "Seussical Jr." Many upper primary pupils had spent a lot of time and effort into the intensive preparations and daily rehearsals. Although many pupils have just started the drama performance journey, they have shown great interest and dedication. I hope our pupils will continue the journey of art in the future to bring more joy to their life!

这一学年已接近尾声。暑假即将来临，我想借此机会向惠立社群的学生、家长和教职员工表达最诚挚的谢意。这一年，我们收获了很多令人难忘而精彩的回忆。教职员工们陪伴着每一位孩子，激励着孩子们追求梦想、发挥潜力，脚踏实地地积极向前。我为孩子们在惠立小学部低年级段所取得的各项成绩深感自豪。这一切都离不开家长们持续的支持、鼓励和无私的奉献。
As our summer begins and the holiday is fast approaching, I would like to take a moment to express my sincerest gratitude to our community of children, families, and staff. It has been a year filled with many memorable moments, celebrating the individuals in our care and collaborating with every child to bring their passions and fascinations from the world around us to life. I am profoundly proud of all of the achievements and accomplishments of our children here at Huili School Hangzhou, Lower Primary. 本周，六名惠立学生（Ben Ch-2B, Leo Zh-2E, Kingsley Ch-4C, Daniella H-5A, Michael Zh-6D, Kevin Ch-7A)成功入围将于七月下旬在天津举行的全国拼写比赛决赛。同学们年纪轻轻就已取得如此出色的成绩，为之付出的汗水终于得到回报。与此同时，我们也为在杭州总决赛中全力以赴的26名惠立学生感到骄傲。
This week, we celebrate the 6 Huili pupils (Ben Ch-2B, Leo Zh-2E, Kingsley Ch-4C, Daniella H-5A, Michael Zh-6D, Kevin Ch-7A). They have advanced to the national final of the Spelling Bee Competition (due to take place in Tianjin in late July). They have done remarkably well at such a young age and deserve massive praise for their diligent work and commitment to this process. We are also very proud of our 26 Huili pupils who gave such effort in the Hangzhou Finals.

I am excited to announce that our pupils will participate in the Panda Book Awards next year. This is an annual award for books that have been recently published.
“熊猫图书奖”提名图书由世界各地的新兴潜力作家和插画师创作、作品关注社会正义、多样性和包容性。此外，我们特别关注以亚洲为创作背景、描述亚裔角色和亚裔作者的作品。
Titles are chosen for the shortlists of the Panda Book Award meet selection criteria that focus on social justice, diversity and inclusion by up-and-coming authors and illustrators from across the world. In addition, there is an added spotlight on titles that feature Asian settings, characters or creators.

Performing Arts Matters
儿童版《苏斯狂想曲》的制作过程对参与其中的学生和全校社群而言是一场趣味十足而意义深刻的经历。校区的惠立和惠灵顿师生携手呈上了一出精彩的表演，让我们感到十分自豪。这部高水准的校园制作也让大家看到了同学们的优秀技能。
Seussical Jr. The Musical has been a rewarding, fun and meaningful experience for our pupils and Wellington College Hangzhou to be involved. We are proud to join our Huili and International school children and staff for this musical production. Furthermore, having a show of this calibre at our school allows our community to watch excellent skills from our learners.
演员们认真排练、倾情投入，学生家长们无私地给予支持，惠立之友慷慨地提供协助，表演艺术组满怀激情地提供指导——所有的一切都让我们倍感自豪。
We are incredibly proud of the hard work and commitment from the children in the cast, their parents' unconditional support, the help and assistance from Friends of Huili and the passion from the Performing Arts Department across the Wellington College Hangzhou campus.
