Excitement as HSH officially awarded FOBISIA membership

This week marks a milestone for Huili School Hangzhou as it officially received a distinction widely recognised amongst the top tier of the international school community - membership of The Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA). 

Membership in FOBISIA is not only an international acknowledgement of Huili School Hangzhou’s educational excellence but also signifies new opportunities for further elevating our educational standards and degree of internationalisation. It is noteworthy that Huili School Hangzhou proudly stands as the sole FOBISIA accredited bilingual school in Zhejiang Province.  

FOBISIA, established in 1988, with the aim of promoting British education throughout Asia and providing its member schools with high-quality educational resources and professional development opportunities. The rigorous selection process for FOBISIA membership positions it as the epitome of British schools overseas. With over 80 member schools in the Asia-Pacific region after three decades of steady growth, FOBISIA stands as a beacon of educational excellence. 

As a brand-new member of FOBISIA, Wellington College Hangzhou has gained recognition for its distinctive forward thinking educational philosophy integrating both Chinese and Western elements. Since the establishment of the school, we have always adhered to the unique educational ethos of Wellington College, dedicated to delivering the finest bilingual education. Leveraging FOBISIA's rich resources, Wellington aims to refine its curriculum to even higher standards ensuring continuous enhancement in educational quality.  

Membership of FOBISIA not only benefits our school but also provides valuable opportunities for the professional development of our teachers at Huili. Through the federation's teacher development programmes and numerous international exchange activities, our teaching team will gain greater expertise further inspiring the learning journey of our pupils.

Moreover, as a member school, we will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of academic, artistic, and sports exchange activities with fellow member schools. These activities ranging from FOBISIA sports events to concerts, drama performances, math activities, and art workshops will foster cross-cultural communication skills, enhance international understanding and instil respect amongst our pupils, laying a robust foundation for them to become global citizens in the future.
