A Year in Review:  WCCH Community Football Team

As this academic term draws to a close, the Wellington College Hangzhou Community Football Team has also brought a successful end to a season filled with challenges and passion. From winter to summer, this parent football team has made unforgettable memories on the pitch paid for with sweat and determination. 

After its official establishment in January, the team employed the expertise of Sipan, a professional coach for the team, under whose guidance the players gradually mastered the fundamentals and tactics of the sport. Later, the team began to play friendly matches with other teams, testing their technical skills as well as their teamwork spirit.  

The team demonstrated strong tenacity when playing against the Hangzhou Shengli Primary School, and enjoyed the friendly match with the Wellington staff team. The most memorable fixture of this season was undoubtedly the one in the rain with the Guangzhou Chuancheng Stars Football Team led by Mr. Peng Weiguo, a Famous footballer of the national team and the Vice Chairman of the Guangzhou Football Association.  

In April, the first Wellington Cup Football Game, hosted by Wellington College China and organised by Wellington College Hangzhou, brought this season to its climax. In this nationwide game, we competed against staff and parents' football teams from our sister schools of Wellington College China. We participated with two teams and finished sixth and eighth after a day of intense competition. Notably, our goalkeeper, Charlie 's father, was honoured with the Golden Glove for his outstanding performance, a well-deserved reward for his hard work. 

We also took part in the Overseas Returnees Town Football League organised by the Transfar Group. Playing with a strong, unified team, we ultimately won first place in this competition. 

Reflecting on this season, we have had great enjoyment and forged strong friendships through our games. We are thankful for the unwavering dedication and resilience of each team member, as well as the steadfast commitment and expert guidance of our coach. It is through our joint efforts that we have achieved such remarkable success this season. 

We eagerly anticipate the continuous development of the Wellington College Hangzhou Community Football Team as it attracts more parents and staff to join. With ongoing training sessions focused on enhancing skills and strategies, we are not only preparing for the matches in the upcoming season but also making more friends as we share the joy and excitement that football offers. 

Finally, we wish all parents and staff a pleasant summer holiday and look forward to embracing more challenges next academic year.
