The red walls and white tiles of the Hiba building look even more appealing under the blue sky in the autumn day. The appearance and design of the buildings are inspired by the distinctive architecture at The Wellington College in the UK. Walking into the campus, one can never get used to the beauty of Hiba. It is in its inclusive education and passionate teachers, and also in its wonderful sets of facilities.
In keeping with the Hiba School commitment to a well-rounded education, Hiba Academy Hangzhou is situated on a purpose-built, state-of-the-art campus containing all of the facilities required to provide pupils with the best academic and co-curricular opportunities.
Today, we invite you to take a walk and see the incredibly modern facilities we have at the Hiba campus.
✦
Library
✦
The main library is at the heart of the school, geographically and academically. Its focus is books and encouraging a love of reading, but it is also a multi-media centre for pupils, promoting independent study. For all Hiba pupils, the library is a learning resource designed to generate significant interest in reading and research.
Performing Arts Centre
Our Performing Arts department aims to make pupils more confident, communicative and empathetic through studying music, drama, dance and theatre. Taught and run by top industry professionals, our state-of-the-art facilities enable pupils to get a near-professional experience in all their creative endeavours. There are also opportunities to be involved in the operational elements of performances, concert productions and technical aspects.
✦
Theatre
✦
The 560-seat Grand Theatre hosts many events throughout the academic year, including assemblies, music recitals, Chinese New Year Galas, Winter Concerts, Musicals and Educational Festivals.
✦
Blackbox
✦
Drama classes take place in our Black Box Studio. An education in drama has countless benefits. It teaches creativity, communication and teamwork — essential skills in any career. It also teaches historical and cultural appreciation and allows pupils to examine fundamental human issues through an expressive medium. At Hiba Academy Hangzhou, we offer instruction in drama for all grades. We provide a safe, non-judgmental environment and encourage full participation.

Dukebox is our Wellington College Hangzhou radio station. DukeBox Radio covers the entire Hangzhou campus. As part of the School Activities programme (SAs), DukeBox Radio Club operates on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. The Dukebox presenter supervises pupils as they record sessions, learn how to create a radio show, edit music and spoken word and master interview techniques.
PE
Sport is another major Hiba priority. Here, the facilities are second to none: the sports hall, football pitch, a 400-metre all-weather synthetic running track, basketball and badminton courts, and two swimming pools, including a 25-metre, six-lane competition pool. Few schools worldwide are blessed with the resources available at Hiba, designed to support our wide-ranging co-curricular activities programme, both after school and at weekends.

Swimming Pool
✦
The six-lane, 25-metre indoor swimming pool is used for weekly swimming lessons, PE, and training for all our swimming and synchronised swimming teams. It also hosts many competitions for teams throughout the Zhejiang province.

The external sports field boasts a 400m athletics track, an 11-a-side football pitch, two basketball courts, flood lights and a stadium. In addition, we also have a long jump and shot putt area to support our athletics.

The Sixth Form Centre is also located on the 2nd floor of the Hiba building, adjacent to the Grand Theatre. Students who join the Sixth Form have a dedicated area for individual study or group work. In addition, the university advisers are available in the centre to support and advise during the two-year A Level course and provide guidance throughout the university preparation and admission process.

Opportunities abound for our pupils to develop their work alongside passionate and creative professionals and to display and view results in our many exhibitions.
✦
Art Gallery
✦
The Art Gallery opened in September 2021. The quality of work our pupils achieve and the dedication of the time and energy they put into their art ensure their work is truly sensational. We want to make more partnerships with our local community, and art may form part of the networking.
Confucius said, “The mechanic, who wishes to do his work well, must first sharpen his tools.” At Hiba, we equip our pupils with comprehensive educational facilities and resources that allow them to build their own world and to tap their potentials to the fullest. We are confident that they will continue their journey with courage and inspiration in this meticulously designed space at Hiba.
